Improper Installation

Garage doors that have been installed incorrectly are more likely to become misaligned or come off track. This could be due to incorrect measurements during installation or using the wrong hardware for the job. It’s best practice to hire an experienced professional when installing a new garage door in order to avoid this issue.

Worn Out Rollers

Over time, the metal wheels on your garage door can wear down and become loose from their tracks. If these rollers aren't replaced regularly they can lead to your garage door coming off its tracks more easily than normal. It is essential to routinely inspect the metal rollers for any indications of wear and tear, replacing them as necessary in order to maintain optimal performance.

When it comes to garage doors, improper installation, worn out rollers and bent tracks can all be causes of a door being off track. It is important to look for signs that the door may be off track such as unusual noises or difficulty opening and closing the door.

Signs of a Garage Door Being Off Track

Unusual Noises:

One of the most common signs that your garage door is off track is unusual noises. If you hear grinding, squeaking, or other strange sounds when the door moves up and down, it could be a sign that something isn’t right with its tracks. The noise may come from metal rubbing against metal as the rollers move along the bent or misaligned track.

Uneven Movement:

Another telltale sign of an off-track garage door is uneven movement when opening and closing. If one side moves faster than the other or if there are jerky movements while in motion, this can indicate that either one of more of your rollers have come out of their respective slots on the tracks or they are stuck due to debris buildup inside them.

Finally, if you find yourself having difficulty opening and closing your garage door despite making sure all safety mechanisms are working properly then it could be because something has gone wrong with its tracks too. When this happens, it is usually due to one or both sides becoming misaligned which can make it difficult for them to slide smoothly across each other as they should during operation.
